I will look at old problems from a fresh perspective and help bring them to a speedy solution. I don’t want to dwell on old issues that have been debated and argued over for a long time; it is time to bring some new ideas and thinking to Wadhurst. Environment, transport, community and local businesses are all areas that can be brought together in a mutually beneficial way. I believe that this is the way forward in making Wadhurst an even more wonderful place to live and work in. An example would be to introduce something like a community orchard or a village bread oven. Somethings like these have been done in lots of other villages where they have helped bring different parts of the community together and helped with the environment at the same time. Wadhurst Parish has the most amazing countryside; it is not only beautiful - it is also productive. I would like to encourage more awareness of local food for example. Explore ways of getting more of it sold in local shops: this would not only help businesses in the countryside - it would also help businesses in the village. I would like to explore other similar initiatives which would be mutually beneficial to all. With the Big Society, the Parish Council could get more powers but less money. I see that as a challenge and if elected look forward to being part of a body that really can make a difference. I live and work locally. I am told that I have a practical common sense approach to life. This approach I will bring to the council. I am independent but will work mutually with others to achieve an objective. |
